Rare Candy
A different FAQ answer: candies are finite.
Rare Candy →SHINY
The developer FAQ sets the base shiny rate at 1/4094. The Shiny Charm adds two extra rolls. A chain adds one roll for every 10 of the same line, up to 100.
Base rate: 1/4094. Shiny Charm, called Amuleto Iris on the Spanish side of the FAQ, sits in the Ruins of Alph and needs every Unown form. It adds two rolls. A chain counts the same species or its evolutionary line: every 10 adds one roll, and 100 is the cap, so ten extra rolls. Beating a different line breaks the chain. An overworld shiny leaves only when you change maps.
Crystal’s rate was about 1/8192. That comparison is from the encyclopedia article on the older game, not from the FAQ.

The FAQ prints 1/4094 and says that matches the main games. The main games from X and Y use 1/4096. I quote 1/4094 and do not “correct” it.
Ruins of Alph, after every Unown form. The FAQ does not give the puzzle route inside the ruins.
