Download from the Perseida page, unzip, install the RPG Maker XP runtime, then launch the game. Alt speeds up battles only.
Get the zip from the Perseida download page, extract it, and install the RPG Maker XP runtime from the engine site. The runtime page describes it as the graphics, music, and libraries the game expects. Then start the executable.
The FAQ says Alt speeds up battle only, and that walking is already quicker than Crystal. Field Moves replace HMs and are available from the start, including a rain move used outside battle. Free Mode and a scaled level curve mean a fixed town-by-town checklist is the wrong shape of guide.
On a phone, Kirin needs the folder and Game.exe selected, with storage permission. Empo imports the folder or zip. Joiplay is incompatible, so a crash there is the expected result, not a setting you missed.

The reviewed developer pages do not publish a complete default button chart; Alt for battle speed-up is documented in the FAQ.
The runtime publisher says you cannot use the program without the RTP. The developer download page lists a missing runtime as the usual reason the game will not start.
Free Mode, described by the developer, starts you at any Johto location. A GameRant line about starting in Ecruteak disagrees, so I follow the developer.
